How to Operate Bard Drainage Bag?

How to operate Safetyflow Device?

Safetflow Device Operation   To Empty Drainage Bag: Hang the bag so that the Outflow Device Arrow is pointing straight down.
  To Open Device: Place thumb at the top of the device & finger on the GREEN lever.
  Lift the lever UP, following the arrow, to OPEN position. Urining will start flowing.
Safetflow Device Operation   To Close Device: Place the thumb on the support below the CLOSED position & finger on the GREEN lever.
  Move the lever DOWN, following the arrow, to the CLOSED position.
Safetflow Device Operation   Listen for the CLICK to ensure the device is closed
  Dispose of the collected urine according to hospital protocol.

 

Positioning the Drainage Bag:

  • Never allow tubing to loop or kink
  • Hold spine and lift meter to facilitate emptying
  • Position the drainage bag at the foot of the bed
  • Keep the Drainage Bag lower than the catheter and the bladder of the patient
